A rear wheel drive car has it in the rear. A front wheel drive car has
it combined with the transmission in the front. With four wheel drive,
there are two differentials, one in the front and one in the rear. There
is a four wheel drive variant that has three differentials. This latter
allows four wheel drive to be permanently engaged.
