Thanks for your answer, but I already tried that to no avail. Also, I'm
not only having trouble with the java plugin, but with *all* plugins. No
plugin, regardless which one, works in 0.9.7 on at all three completely
different machines. And as I said before, they are in the correct place,
and they are even shown in about: plugins. Nevertheless they all don't
work, and mozilla wants to downlad those plugins over and over.
