That's why I added "or startup" (meaning start of mozilla.exe).

No idea, but I'd check out ones that *can* scan and process MIME and 
mbox mailboxes (instead of simply deleting or moving them).

Using any AV software with less dangerous *settings* (move/rename 
instead of delete; ask first) should help a lot also.
