Thanks for putting words in my mouth.  I said what I meant -- no matter 
how I organize my messages in my mail program (which happens to be 
Mozilla), if I do wish to keep a record for future reference, I'd much 
rather keep one email than many.  Unless you've got a method for 
combining all of the messages in a thread into one final document after 
the fact, I don't see how replies without quotes make your life any easier.

As a practical matter, I rarely print email, but I do occasionally save 
messages.  I find that Mozilla organization method is very easy to use. 
  I drag messages into multiple sub-folders, and set filters to do the 
job for me when I find myself repeating an operation too often.  Do you 
have an email program with some more advanced method?  Will you share 
with the rest of us?
