If you read the discussion in various items at bugzilla - you will see 
this question of top versus bottom posting has many ramifications, and 
is more complex than someone simply saying - I don't like bottom posting.

In the end, it seems unreasonable to expect everyone to agree to liking 
one method or the other.  Not to mention the fact that discussions on 
this and similar topics go on forever.

But, ideally, if mail display and composition options are supplied in 
mail software, then everyone will benefit if everyone posts using just 
one wonderful worldwide method.  It seems to me discussion and energy of 
bottom/top would be most productive if directed to the end of providing 
more and better display and composition options so that everyone wins.

other enhancement ideas

- option to format message so most recent response is at top,

- display message as sent (hopefully bottom posted) such that quotes are 
supressed, or message starts displaying at the start of the most recent 
response
