One last long-shot question to see if we could handle these somehow--

If some server was serving up .mov (apple quicktime) files as type
text, would moz still kick it to the user or would it note that there's
a registered helper app and kick it over to that?  Our extension can be
invoked from the command-line ('firefox.exe -gnusto gamename'), so
perhaps there's some way to register that as a helper app for .z5
files?

I guess barring all of that we'd have to overlay and intercept the
clicking of the link to make the decision ourselves?  I'd really hate
to dig the extension's tendrils that far into the works-- seems risky.

Sorry to keep digging on this, but only a tiny handful of sites serve
up .z5 files with the correct MIME type...
