So am I. "Save Link As..."  here also doesn't seem to do anything and
many links don't start a download at all, if they are clicked with
pressed Shift key.
And this doesn't work at all if you enter the complete URL in the
address field of Mozilla, like I used to do after having quite some
problems with downloading the complete file and not only a fraction of
it, to start the download imediately without the need to return to the
related website.

And for the later it should be shure, that this is done in binary
mode.
