I can't believe this. It works fine for 2.02. I don't see anything at
the indicated above URL to indicate web server on local machine is
required for the hosts file to deny access to unwanted content.

What is meant by having a web server on my local machine?

For embedded offsite content no error at all is probably the best
behavior.

Way over my head. Maybe
http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=28586 is on track to handle
this?

I'm a user, not a programmer. All I know is I don't need or want popups
when adservers are unreachable, regardless of the reason why they are
unreachable.
