Hi Mike

Cause of problem found.

Answers:-

How many times did you use the migrated profile? You need to use it at
least twice - once to confirm that the profile migrated OK and then to
find out that Mozilla has trashed the INBOX.

I am using POP.

Probably :-) but in what respect?
eComStation GA 1.01, using pmmerge.dll from 47601_fix.zip (best pmmerge
so far), kernel 14.086d_W4
My Boot (System) Drive is H:
Netscape and various versions of Mozilla (currently 0941 and a build of
097) reside on drive J:

Here is what happens when I install Build ID: 2002012408

Unzip mozilla_os2.zip to J:\mozilla\bin
Start mozilla and the Profile Manager is displayed
Select to Copy Profile "losepete"
Mozilla then starts with the copied/converted Profile.
Click "Tasks", select "Mail and News"
Mail and News client opens - at this point INBOX is readable, the
Character Coding is Western
Now close Mozilla
Restart Mozilla (seconds, minutes or hours) later
Click "Tasks", select "Mail and News"
Mail and News client opens - the INBOX is now unreadable, the Character
Coding is Arabic, trying to select Western in the properties for the
folder does not work because the OK button does not work now.

As I am not the only person with this problem I suspect a "broken"
Mozilla email client. Further investigations reveal that if I delete the
files with the msf extension (Mozilla Summary Files ?) from the mail
folder then start Mozilla the INBOX is readable again - this seems to
indicate something wrong somewhere with Mozilla.
I have repeated the deletion of the msf files five (5) times and each
time Mozilla will display the INBOX correctly - and the other folders
that it has trashed. Looks like the problem is in the msf file created
for each folder.

A few further problems you may be able to help with:-

Problem 1:- this Profile has been created in
j:\os2web\bin\mozilla\profiles and I would really like to store it
elsewhere, separate from the \bin directory tree, such as
j:\os2web\mozilla\profiles. I have found that setting Mozilla_Home to
j:\os2web before starting Mozilla for the first time means that Mozilla
will not find any Netscape profiles to migrate! - just a blank "Create a
Profile" screen.

Problem 2:- Why does the Profile Manager create the News folder for this
profile in J:\Netscape\Users\losepete\mail5\mail ? It is the only
profile of five that, it seems, must be created within the original
Netscape\Users tree. Why?

Problem 3:- How do I move the Profile folder and News folder (from
questions 1 & 2) to where I want them to be located?

Regards

Pete
