Perhaps I should have been stronger in my opinion:

I DO NOT WANT __ANYTHING__ KEEPING TRACK OF MY DOWNLOADS.

What I download is my business - I don't want anything (or
anyone) looking over my shoulder.

That makes two "improvements" in Mozilla that I can't stand:
 - creating a directory to save images when I save a page
 - keeping track of what downloads I have performed

I've used OS/2 for more than 10 years now (including inside
IBM, *before* it was announced). But if the principal new
applications to come along are unacceptable, I guess it is
time for me to look into switching to a platform where there
still is choice.
