I've had fits with this kind of thing. The only cure I've found is to
run checkini. Some times I've had to delete all copies of everything,
run checkini to clear out all the mozilla junk in the ini files, and
start over.

The most recent event was somewhat like your problem. I even renamed my
mozilla1b directory and ran checkini, and an installation of 1.1 still
used the renamed program objects to set up on. I had to delete the
mozilla1b object then install 1.1. Of course now I'll have to
completely emininate everything related to 1.1 in order to get back to
1.1b. But I think it will be worth it. I don't know how anybody ever
keeps multiple, runnable versions.

9/11: Religion tends to say the human race is on a slippery downhill
slope, egged on by the master of evil. Anti-religion tends to say the
race is steadily advancing toward perfection, egged on by absolutely
nothing. Hmmm.
