Nope. I'm certain that Opera was in existence as a finished product
at least 3.5 years ago (I remember installing it on my old 386, which
was retired in summer '97) It had probably been out there for some
time even then.

On the other hand, 3 years? IIRC, the mozilla project is about 2.5
years old, isn't it?

Yep. Remember, though, that an awful lot of people just barge in here
whinging about N6 without having the faintest clue about Mozilla.

I would say wait for 1.0. The differences between now and 3 months
ago are substantial*. Where will it be in 3 months time?

And the differences between now and 9 months ago are phenomenal. This
thing keeps getting better. It's still not up to 4.7 in many areas
(though it is ahead in many others), and it's not up to the standards
of IE5.5 yet, either, but it's heading in the right direction.

Taking the (hopefully not too optimistic) view that the mozilla
project will keep going for at least another year*, then at the end of
that period, mozilla (and derived products) should be in a much better
shape to gain acceptance elsewhere. Many people (myself included) are
of the opinion that Netscape 6 was released too early.

*My guesses about AOL's motives say that they'll be providing support
for some time yet.

More thoughtful than the usual "Netscape sux" rants, which is
appreciated (by me, at least)
