... But I think that you want them on vinyl just because you're _used_ to 
have tunes on vinyl. The next generation will feel more home with music 
on their portable MP3 (or whatever the format is then) players. They 
probably see cd's and vinyl awfully cumbersome way to carry music around.

Even dj's will start using harddisk (or similar) based record collections: 
You won't get your wrists fucked up by carrying your vinyl collection, 
it's easier to manipulate digital audio than analog - you have a totally 
new dimension in your dj'ing, and most of all, you won't lose tens of 
thousands of $ if someone steals your portable MP3 player (like you do, 
if someone steals your rare vinyl collection). Even now many dj's use 
burned cd copies because of these reasons.

Dj's probably will still continue preferring vinyl as the _source_ media, 
but they'll leave the vinyls home in the future. I'd do so already, if I 
were dj...
