The feature list on the website is pretty impressive. Rafael (mpecker
author) seems to be very good at decoding the ISO documents. Maybe he's a
compsci/audio person or something, because he has really added
functionality to his encoder: eg new psychoacoustic models, joint stereo,
MPEG-2 support etc.
I'm not sure that I have the time/speciality knowledge to really get to
know the ISO documents/layer III spec well enough to ipmlement even
jstereo.
However, I think jstereo should be a good goal for us to work towards. It
will give us a good increase in quality with hopefully minimal hacking of
the code.

TEchnical details are nice, but if I have the technical knowledge to
understand the technical details, I could probably do it myself :)

maybe they have. the bladenc author was asked to shut down, but since he's
in a country where they don't enforce software patents, he's not going to.
maybe the mpecker author is in a similar situtation?
