For this sort of applications I'd recommend the Farunhofer codec... mp3enc works great
- although you need a p300 for stable performance.
It works fine with Icecast/liveice. (In fact I originally developed mp3serv using
l3enc)
The only 'free' encoder to go below 32Kbit/sec is scrEamer, but the quality is abysmal
- you really need a commercial encoder.
