Does anyone have any objections if I remove the ISO psy-model code
from the next release of LAME?
lame 3.12pre5 will soon be on the web page. New from pre4:
VBR bit allocation bug fixed when increasing the bit rate.
Xing VBR frame headers (code from Albert Faber)
Lame native .wav support now fully functional (code from Nils Faerber)
Juha Laukala's bin_search_StepSize() now the default
Chris Matrakidis sent a new patch which makes quantize_xrpow()
much faster. (now xrpow_flag=1 is the default mode)
Chris writes:
After that I thought I'll experiment with the latest gcc 2.9.5 developemt
snapshot, and was impressed by the result. I got another improvement of more
than 15%. The overall performance improvement is:
original 0.77x
patched 0.87x
original (gcc-2.9.5) 0.87x
patched (gcc-2.9.5) 1.05x
Furthermore, for the last case, lame -f gives a very impressive 3.33x.
