You're aware that with those parameters you're comparing a stereo
encoding process against a joint-stereo one? I'm no expert, but I'd
expect that the creation of joint-stereo would have some effect on the
time needed... What's the result if you use lame with
"lame -h -m s track1.wav track1.mp3"?
