I know I've been rather too active in this list lately. I promise to settle down soon.
I wonder if this is interesting, maybe not?
On a 20 second test sample WAV (using v3.58 -h -V6) I obtained the following average
bitrates.
-X0 132 kb/s
-X1 130
-X2 183
-X3 183
-X4 145
-X5 130
I don't have the latest compile with -X6.
Do these results mean anything?
I am wondering what -X option would produce the best sound quality when counter
adjusting -V to force the average bitrate to say 130. (ie) would -V7 -X4
theoretically sound better or worse than -V6 -X5?
Maybe an easier question: What -X option does everyone suggest for VBR?
I'm interested in anyone's comments.
Ross.
