Someone from icast talked to the head of proteron.  They claim they
want to include the lame DLL and the Mpecker DLL in the next version
of their software.  

If they really are willing to include the lame.dll, I think that's
good for us, and then no reason to worry about if the original
Proteron codec was LAME, or just "based on LAME".

They are going to face some stiff competition in the windows market,
since they are competing with a bunch of free encoders: CDex is very
popular (includes LAME), zlurp seems to be doing well - I saw it was
included with a portable mp3 player, and now the free version of
MusicMatch includes MP3 encoding (FhG) and cd burning.
