[MP3 ENCODER] Masking in stereo

I had another look at the code, but not long enough to find where the masking is 
calculated. What happens, if, a person hears a sharp attack in one ear only... does it 
mask anything heard in the other ear? Does Lame take this into account? Just something 
I'm curious about.
