-q1 should be an optimalisation by Takehiro Tominaga running a more
extensive search to find smallest framesize to fit a certain quality.
 Not (yet) standard because some reported it to artifact in lower
 bitrates.

Maybe a good idea would be to
1- measure current non-q1 size of lower ranges
2- default -q1 at all settings and lower the ath tweaks a bit so this
new size == older non-q1-size, giving better Q at equal size?

256S, or V1-q1 if you care about space ( http://www.r3mix.net , subjective within 
boundaries)

btw: I do listening tests, but this is so arbitrary I use gfx tests,
where possible, to get my points across...
