well, I respect him, and love his work. But that's why I came here and
asked.

i don't like politics. if it weren't for that horribe "*mitr*
K*t**nov" who shamelessly compiled lame, adding a tag line for his
site there, and thereby violating the GPL, adding no source of his
work to the distribution, I, and many others, would never have heard
of "LAME". (50.000 hits nearing)
terrible morally depraved man that is... [I love you man!]

yes, companies. this is just one person, offering a free player to
the win32 platform.
net result is that development will stop a step early, his player won't
improve more, and since he has no time to finish his own decoder
engine.
sad thing is also that he is now crippled by this restriction, and
will honor the GPL, while those "companies" you speak of shamelessly
harvest and earn on the back of others.
big analogy with outlawing encryption (now in UK very actual). the
normal everyday citizen loses his rights of privacy, while the
criminals don't care and encrypt their sensitive data anyways. :(
M> Monty
thanks for the clarification
are there precedents of an piece of GPL upgrading to LGPL?
