Recently, I heard from a company that works with lots of radio
stations in the US was evaluting several codecs at 128kbs CBR. They
did some tests in a studio, and came up with the following ratings:
(pop music, 1=worst, 10=best)
Xing: 3
LAME: 7
FhG: 8
In my own 128kbs CBR tests, there are some samples were
LAME outperforms FhG, and vice-versa. So I think they
are pretty close.
