hi:
Maybe you can try shinefixed mp3 audio compress or compress audio in mp2 format, ffmpeg's mp2 encoder can be used.

Hi,
I know ffmpeg, but i had problems finding the first encoder you suggested. Could you send me an url? I'm not sure mp2 works in my case, because i want to feed the stream into an icecast server.
BTW, I found an mp3 encoder that satisfies my needs. It's the sample mp3 encoder that comes with the Intel Integrated Performance Primitives Library for XScale CPU's. It's free for non-commercial use, and can do 44.1 KHz 128kbit stereo in real-time on an Intel XScale PXA255 (ARM) 400 MHz cpu without fpu. Ok, it sounds like crap... but works! I haven't tried higher bitrates yet, but fortunately sound quality is not an issue in my case.
Regards,
George
