Where did that O3 come from ?
When I build mpir-2.6.0 for Win64 (gcc-4.7.0), -O2 is the (default) optimisation level that's used - and there's no problem with the build and the tests for that level.

I haven't actually tried -O3, though I probably could (if you tell me how to do that :-)
