I had only modified the top level Makefile, and I had run ./configure
again. As far as I can see, there is no -O3 left in the build log.
If I change only the top level Makefile, I still get a lot of -O2 when the
test scripts build (and all tests pass).
What happens if, after you run ./configure, you change -O2 to -O3 in *all*
of the Makefile files ?
Is there a smart way to effect that ? ... ie a way that doesn't involve
editing each and every Makefile by hand ?
I'm actually wondering whether your implementation of -O3 is flawed ... but
I'm quite ignorant when it comes to such considerations.
Cheers,
Rob
