Steve Sumner asks:
>Hello Mr. List Manager. Any butts getting kicked yet????

Having been accused lately of excessive intervention, I decided to hang back
and see how the various election threads developed. But now that the public
is calling for action... <grin>

Long-time list members know what's germane to Minneapolis-issues and what
isn't. The initial Runbeck post came from a poster who knew he was bending
the rules. I hate, hate, hate sending out warnings - which usually earn me
grumpy rejoinders, right Steve? But as the various threads have grown, I
think you can see why I get involved early.

To be clear, yet again: Minneapolis-issues is a forum for discussion about
local initiatives. The Runbeck race is clearly not appropriate here. The
post included mention of Ron Eibensteiner, who the Strib says may be a
Minneapolis mayoral candidate. Eibensteiner is a valid topic, but c'mon,
let's not stretch this to include an ongoing debate about your feelings on
the statewide Republican party.

Also, while the Nader-at-Target-Center announcements got a bit thick (folks,
we knew after the first several messages!), I appreciate everyone's
restraint in not debating Mr. Nader's candidacy. His campaign, while
important to his Minneapolis fans, is not a local issue. Minneapolis-based
elections, including those for the legislature and 5th Congressional
district, are just fine, of course.

I realize this might be too narrow a focus for some, but this list is
intentionally parochial, thus the name.
