Good post Bob... I too frequent the Fine Line, many warehouse district
businesses, Uptown bars and restaurants, and the many local 'live' theater
options. I saw Buddy Guy at Fine Line and a good local blues group at Famous
Daves, all within past week.
However, for most movies and dining it's often the nearby suburbs with an
ample supply of theaters, plenty of good restaurants/bars, and all with lower
'recreational taxes' and free parking to boot! And now they are talking
about raising hotel/restaurant taxes even further in downtown Mpls.-- good
luck folks. The difference in City/suburb 'recreational taxes' on a good
night out can amount to more than enough to pay the babysitter, buy a good
book or a bottle of wine! It adds up! (note that Buddy Guy and the local
blues group also play the suburbs)
