I was sorely irritated before the election about this whole issue,
especially in regards to the library. When we, the residents of Minneapolis,
were asked to finance the library improvements, Swan came out saying how
financing the library improvements could jeoprodize the City's bond rating.
Yet, we were never given a vote in financing Target and any of the other
funding projects for private businesses. So, what happens when the City's
bond rating drops from AAA to AA? Will the politicians come out and say "It
is your fault for wanting the library?"
Why do we citizens have to go to the polls to ask for money for education
and libraries, but we get almost no say in financing Block E and the Target
buildings? Well, I feel like I have no say with the Councilmember I have.
