In the late 60's it was tried here--the third lane was added to 494 between
Highway 5 and 100.  It didn't help.

When 62 was completed through to 494, it didn't help 494 (it was, in
effect, adding two lanes to the same traffic corridor--they are only about
a mile apart.

When the third lane was added to hwy 100 from 38th to 494 it didn't help.

When the Bloomington Ferry Bridge was build (adding a freeway crossing to
over the Minnesota. It din't help 35 W river bridge (same corridor)
