Although it is not clear because this message was not signed, it appears
to be authored by Steve Cross, our Prospect Park neighborhood association
(PPERRIA) president since it was sent from an account normally used by him.
For the sake of discussion I will assume that the message is indeed authored by
Mr Cross.

First off, Mr. Cross states that the facts from my previous post are not
accurate. If one takes his statement literally, then every single fact
I cited must have been false.
Well...I would like to thank Mr. Cross for supporting my argument for
recording meetings...because I stand ready to provide evidence or
testimony under oath in a court of law that everything I stated was
true to the best of my knowledge. One benefit of audio recordings
is that they help to elevate the problem of "He said";
"Did Not"; "Did To"; Did Not," that is why we began recording in the
first place and why it is important to protect citizen's rights to continue to
do so. As truth detectors tape recordings are very powerful tools (as
Richard Nixon and the nation discovered after Watergate). We
have been able to provide word-for-word excerpts to verify what was said
at meetings. It is my personal opinion that this is why Mr. Cross has tried
to prevent me from recording and why Bob Miller (NRP Director) claims
that PPERRIA is not subject to the Open Meeting law and can therefore
bar recording. If my opinion is not accurate then let them present justification
here showing why the Open Meeting law should not be applied to meetings of
local neighborhood associations when NRP business is conducted.
If the spirit of the NRP program is to be followed, then we must insure that
all residents are able to participate and that their rights are fully protected.
I support Jean Wagenius' bill, House File 404. I would also urge
Phyllis Kahn, our state representative, to support the rights of her
constituents.
