Just want to respond to the scurrilous little piece of rumor mongering that
Mr. Stafford has directed at me in this post. First of all the last two
occasions I have been with Ms. Lickness have been at the Stonewall DFL
screening and at the Teamsters screening. Mr. Stafford was at neither of
these events so of course he is repeating this second hand. As to his
implication that somehow in conversation I said I voted for a Republican is
ludicrous. Ms. Likeness is correct when she says the conversation Mr.
Stafford recounts is not the one we had. The conversation that she and I
had bears no resemblance to Mr. Stafford's interpretation of his so-called
second hand hearing of it. We just discussed the inclusion of a question in
screening asking "who the candidate voted for in the presidential election."
I indicated to Ms. Likeness at the Teamster's screening that I believed in
the privacy of the voting booth. The only other people in the room were Greg
Abbott and Paul Ostrow.

Since Mr. Stafford is questioning my Democratic credentials all I can say is
the following:

1. I have been a DFL delegate for the past eight years.

2. I have supported financially and with time only DFL candidates

3. If Mr. Stafford is in the habit of checking out my lawn signs for the
last several years, he would know that I only have DFL lawn signs in my
yard.

4. I have a file full of mail from the DFL State party directed to me asking
me for financial help

5. Last but certainly not least, look at the past eight years of my voting
record at City Hall. The person who ran against me last time, tried to
tarnish that and didn't succeed. It stands as a record of someone who votes
Democratic.

I can only suppose that Mr. Stafford is trying to tarnish me because of his
support for the current Mayor. I would also ask the list manager in the
future to supervise these types of posts a little closer. Folks shouldn't be
allowed to rumor monger when they haven't heard the conversation first hand
or don't have any facts to back up their accusations.
