At the risk of suffering the same wrath that befell Mr. Russell, I'd like to
wade into this issue.
According to the Neighborhood & Press Association there are nearly 30
neighborhood newspapers in the Twin Cities. Add to that the many weeklies and
niche papers, all vying for attention and you begin to see the problem that
we may face here.
Why would any of them ever want to use Mpls Issues List to draw attention to
themselves? Think about who subscribes to this list...
-politicians
-candidates
-city officials
-political insiders and people interested in the process.
If I had an interest in a perticular newspaper, I would do everything in my
power to get its name under your nose any way possible. Doing so would
plant my paper's name in your mind and give it "stature". I believe that it
is naive to think otherwise.
That being said, I'd hate to see the list bogged down with posts saying "have
you read the article in 'fill in the blank' news regarding repavement of Main
Street?" While some of you may in fact welcome more posts, sadly, I cannot
afford the time.
Besides, the newspapers have their thing... isn't this supposed to be more
about people talking directly back and forth?
