Sandra Miller announces her candidacy for the 8th Ward City Council Seat.

Sandra Miller announced today her intention to seek the 8th Ward City
Council seat currently held by Brian Herron. Ms. Miller is currently the
Treasurer on the Minneapolis School Board and has been for 3 years. Ms.
Miller stated that she knows that she is late in getting into the race and
had not considered running for the position but felt an obligation to the
citizens of the 8th ward who have continued to support me. "My community is
going down and I can't sit back any longer and let the things in this ward
go as they have been. I felt a need to stand up and protect my 50+ years in
this community. This is my community, my home and my future."

She said that there were three areas in which she wanted to focus on:
Economic Development; Housing issues and Neighborhood to neighborhood
beautification project. In expanding on the three areas she stated that
there is a strong need to create jobs for all residents in this ward.
Residents want employment and I intend to see that jobs are available at a
living wage. If transportation is the issue we will address it. My plan is
to solidify the housing issue. To work with finance companies to assist
working adults in getting financing to purchase a home and to assist them in
keeping it. I plan to mobilize all effective block club leaders to help
invoke the spirit of the community. Neighborhood revitalization is a
necessity and by creating an effective partnership between businesses and
the neighborhoods we will identify the needs of the neighborhoods.
