I have served on the school board with Sandra for the past year, and I
have a lot of respect for her. She is currently the Board's treasurer.
Sandra grew up in Minneapolis, graduated from Central HIgh School, and
married her high school sweetheart, Butch. They have 5 children, 14
grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. She is a legal secretary to Judge
Touissant, Chief Justice of the Minnesota Court of Appeals.
She chairs the Central Park Expansion, which involves working with the
Park Board to get the houses behind Richard Green School removed and the
occupants of the houses relocated to housing within the comunity so that
the park can be expanded.
She was one of the original steering committee members appointed by the
Mayor to the Central Weed & Seed. This group's work has been to "weed"
out the crime in a two block area around Richard Green School and "seed"
in the growth.
Other boards that she has served on or is currently serving on: Central
Community Building Committee, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, Third
Precinct Advisory Council, Youth Coordinating Board, and Metro ESCU.
