Sure all kinds of bigotry has been around for a long time. There's also
alot of bigotry against Republicans--as anyone who is Republican in this
city knows well. However, sometimes folks raise these issues to obscure
other issues, and I resent it when that happens.

> Remember, Urban Ventures notwithstanding, the OZ Plan, voted down, was also
>the work of African Americans in the neighborhood. When AfrAmer.s have
>milestone events--births, deaths, graduations, marriages, Christenings,

>For them a hotel is banquet space, extra rooms for extra family (and not
every
>member of every Af-Amer. family is dirt poor) are a plus for the
neighborhood.
>( Same with Latino families, same with Irish Clans, but that's another
story.)
>I don't yet have enough experience with Somalis to have a judgement.
And this isn't true for non-African Americans and Latinos? My family tends
to gather from all over the country for weddings, funerals, graduations,
etc.

>Here's how race and class often set the tone in Central. Each person uses
his

>Ergo, each group projects onto the other group the norms from their personal

>project what they think of as "neighborhood" onto their blocks.
So German Americans don't invite their extended families to things like
weddings, christenings, funerals, etc.?
snip.....

>At this juncture, Piehl, et.al. want no part of a compromise. They want what

Ok, cast of characters here:

The "Blue Crew" (how did they get that name")
Basim Sabri A developer
Zack Metoyer President of CNIA board, employee of Sabri's
Valerie Metoyer Board Member of CNIA, Wife to Zack
Pauline ???? Board Member of CNIA
Steve Walsh Board Member of CNIA

The folks the Blue Crew overturned:
Walt Gutzmer Former President of CNIA
David Piehl Former Board Member of CNIA, Healy block resident
Corinne Zala Resident on the Healy block (proposed hotel location)
Karen Forbes Resident of Central Neighborhood
Eva Young Resident of Central Neighborhood

>Whether Sabri is an SOB or a gift of the Maji is immaterial. Whether Zack
>works for him or not is immaterial.
Zack's employment with Sabri is relevant. Especially if as President of
CNIA, Zack takes the position that speaking on behalf of CNIA, that Basim
Sabri's proposed hotel is a good idea.

>Whether Piehl is a big wind from So.Dak or
>something else is immaterial. Samee-samee Walt, Corrine, Eva, KForbes and
the
>rest.
Not sure of the point here.

Threatening their

threat on >> their children, but that and everything else they put up with

And Basim Sabri says the Lors and the building owner were using the
building for cockfighting. Isn't cockfighting illegal in the city? And
was this reported to the police? Then he goes on to say that Corrine Zala
hasn't been using her city housing improvement grant as it is supposed to
be used......

Thanks to Karen for forwarding Brian Herron's message on the publically
available CNIA list to the Minneapolis Issues list. And thanks to Council
Member Herron for responding in a positive way to Robert Lilligren's ideas.
