I agree, score one for Lisa.
But, at least the Mayor's staff is reading this list. But I think the
Mayor has a civic obligation to participate in this list. It is part of
her job that folks elect her to do--and this is a good way to mix it up
with politically interested constituents. RT and Lisa McDonald are regular
contributors--and now that Mark Stenglein has joined the race, I hope he
gets in here on Minneapolis Issues also. I think the public nudging from
the noble freethinkers on this list--as well as other candidates RT and
McDonald have nudged SSB into agreeing to a debate before the upcoming DFL
convention.
I also appreciate that my representative Rep. Neva Walker is subscribed to
this list. Hopefully soon she will jump in and post. And I'd also like to
see Council Member Herron start to participate in this list. Herron did
post on the cnia-chat list a few days ago. That is much appreciated.
On the topic of Council Member Herron, a while back, Herron told me in an
email, that my story about Herron's staff person (this was a young woman)
testifying at a city planning meeting about the need to expedite approval
for the infamous and annoying alley turn on 34th and Park was inaccurate.
Well, I talked with neighbors of mine who were at this meeting, and they
heard that same thing. Herron's staff person told the commission that
Herron wanted approval of this expedited because it was a minority
contractor who was getting the job. Herron denies this story (though he
wasn't at the meeting), and now there are 3 folks--myself, and two others
who remember this statement.
