The riverfront deal was desperate. Sharon et al were
dead set against St. Paul picking off another business
so close to the elections and since the first deal for
a space for Padilla with another contractor fell
through people thought that might happen.
I'm not saying it was good or bad. I thought mistakes
were made long before. Ryan is desperate to turn dirt
and throw up (pun intended) a building so padilla can
occupy space by Jan. 1.
I was only at the 6th ward sat. for an hour. Previous
committment downtown and out at Hosmer.
What I saw and heard was interesting. I came to the
meeting with pretty much of an open mind though I know
a few of the participants.
Theperson who turned my crank in the speech part was
Shada Nyobe-Hammond. When she said $9.02 translates
into $16,000/yr or some figure and that is still below
the poverty level.
Talk about low expectations on the part of the present
council and Mayor! And even then they shill for
companies that pay less.
The one thing I'll say in defense of Ryan is they are
good paying jobs. Too bad they're building shit.
