Less than $3 per week is the best money the City spends.  Being on the high
end of that list is probably why Seattle, Minneapolis and Portland are some
of the most livable cities in the country.

It's certainly money that is better spent than the cool million it cost for
the Robert Olson wall around the Hyatt Hotel we saw last summer, Block E,
the $50 million that the Mayor gave to build a Target store  3 blocks from
where I'm writing this or the few  hundred thousand we  paid out a couple of
weeks ago because the Minneapolis cops drove out to Edina to beat some kid
up.

Theodore Wirth had the vision to create what is recognized as one of the
best park systems in the country.  We  need to invest in parts of it that
are literally falling apart.  We probably have more people using our parks
than any other item provided by the city.

Spend $500 per capita on parks, it will still be money well spent.
