In a recent Strib article about the DFL endorsement
for Mayor at the upcoming city-wide convention, it was
stated at the end of the article that the Mpls. Green
Party would decide between Lisa McDonald and R.T.
Rybak in early June.
Huh?
I know a lot of Greens support R.T. Rybak but I won't.
I could not support a candidate who passed on a $500k
"play" for a campaign. Noble sentiments are just that
and they won't carry the day.
The environmental movement needs a fighter, not a Boy
Scout leader. The Barbarians are already inside the
gate.
Speaking of barbarians, does anyone seriously consider
Lisa Mc to be an environmentalist? Lisa wants to put
bikes back on the Nicollet Mall. I would like to drive
the heavy equipment that takes the first bite out of
the Mall aka Nicollet Busway. My thought is "make it a
street or make it a park."
You know that old question: What would you rather
have, fame or fortune? I always thought I would prefer
fame.
I wish the people who offered to help R.T. would call
me. Nobody's going to tie my hands. Contributors can
give you money but as far as I know they can only vote
once and it takes a lot more votes than those of just
contributors to get elected.
Believe me, with the Mayor's salary I would think I
had died and gone to heaven. It would be like the
citizens had bribed me.
Now that would be a real sting ala George Roy Hill!
