I simply have to speak to the insinuation that only SSB is talking about the people of
the city. I've just reviewed the RT Rybak speech that was posted on the web and that
I heard on Saturday. I would challenge anyone to try to state that RT simply glossed
over the "people of the city". Indeed, RT clearly and consistently talked about
people like you and me. He spoke to basic services, which affects every person in the
city. He spoke about parks. He spoke about airport noise, which is as much of a
"quality of life" issue as any other. He spoke to a great many other things related
to us people. Furthermore, he had a sincere, upbeat, expansive, and positive vision
of where this city can and should head. Needless to say, I was quite impressed with
RT's vision for the city combined with the business know-how to move it forward.
In reference to the comment, "It's all about how we choose to spend our money in the
end. The mayor does a lot with the city's limited budget. And she does it with the
city's PEOPLE in mind." It seems to me that SSB's "people" seem to be a lot more the
stockholders of Target Corporation than my neighbors, friends, family, and me.
