Thanks to Basim Sabri for stepping up to the plate and giving an
explanation of his lawsuit. I also appreciate that a large developer, such
as Sabri is participating in this list. I would personally like to see
more folks who are developers in the city to participate in this list.
However, since, Sabri mentioned CNIA-chat, I feel compelled to respond:
Basim Sabri writes:

The "little cnia-chat group" was publicized in a front page article in the
city pages. The web version of this article includes a link to cnia-chat
(http://groups.yahoo.com/group/cnia-chat/messages/) and the No Motel
website:
http://www.nomotel.com/ All 8th ward candidates are on this "little
cnia-chat" as is Rep. Neva Walker, people on the current CNIA board, and
others.
Mr. Sabri, posted some pretty inflamatory things -- here and in CNIA chat
for the short time he was there. Yes, there are people who are critical of
Sabri's take no prisoners style in Central.
Meanwhile, Council Member Herron just relayed a message to the cnia-chat
group, via his opponent, Robert Lilligren on the cnia-chat list:

<<I just had a call from CM Herron in response to my email letter conerning
development on the 3000 Block of 2nd Ave (Baker Block). He said he supports
development of the six blocks already owned by Mr. Basim Sabri without adding
other lots to the parcel. He supports keeping the existing structures where
they are. He supports helping Corrine Zala to continue improving her
building. He asked me to help spread the word.
Thanks to CM Herron for supporting the community.
Yours,
Robert Lilligren

Ward 8, Phillips West

While at the e-democracy event last night (saw some familiar faces there
from this list), there was lots of talk about how lists like these can
inspire political action or press. David Brauer gave one example. The
City Pages cover story about Sabri is another.
