Just got back from Art-a-whirl - my first ever - and I just want to say IT
ROCKS!

There are an amazing breadth of genuinely talented artists, the whole thing
was awesomely organized, and my kids were enthralled with the biggest Spin
Art deal I've ever seen,

Plenty of politics, too - ran into Paul Ostrow shaking hands at one of the
shuttle stops (did I mention the shuttles - yea for mass transit in NE! - as
well as my pal Mark Stenglein. As you can imagine, we had a nice chat about
Newt Gingrich with list member Steve Sumner standing by! Seriously, it WAS
nice - Mark personifies affable. He was wearing a big Stenglein for Mayor
sticker so I'm guessing the exploratory phase of his campaign might be
over....

You folks in NE have a great thing going...seriously locally cool on the
order of the May Day Fest.

My only suggestion (to make a little more work for the participants) is to
spread the kids stuff out a bit more. We had planned to hit the Northrup
King complex, with a kids stop at Logan Park, then on to the California
Building. We only made it to the first two...it would have been nice to have
kids stuff IN the big complexes so we could've made our two stops at
Northrup King and California while still pleasing our kids. There are
probably solid reasons why this wouldn't work - but if not, something to
consider for next year. We'll definitely be there.

Surfing the cool local vibe in the shadow of the Grain Belt warehouse made
me, once again, proud to be a Minneapolitan!
