We went to Art-a-Whirl today since we couldn't make it yesterday (t-ball,
ballet and the like) and it was great like it has been in the past (but
awful weather!). One complaint however - I thought it was running from noon
to five today- we got there about 12:30 and knocked off at 4:30 because more
than half of the studios were closed. And at 4:30 at the Grain Belt - pretty
much all of them were. Now I understand that one of the hidden joys of
being an artist is not having to conform to rigid schedules, but it seems to
me, no matter how hectic the weekend was - if you want people to see your
stuff - you should have it out there as planned! My five year old loved the
drawing class and the perpetual motion machines. He walked into one studio
and yelled "This stuff is terrible!" The artist, thank god, laughed and
said "Everyone's a critic". Perhaps there could be some family activities
on Sunday as well next year, instead of trying to cram them all in on Sat.?
