When art-a-whirl started I think six years ago and knowing some of the people
who would be part of it I could never have imagined that people outside of ne
would come. This has to do with how ne has changed. We moved here in 94' and it
was kinda taboo. Back then it was ok to visit but people thought you were kinda
weird to want to live there. It's so close to downtown I can ride to work, the
Mrs. can take the bus, and rent was really cheap. It is still relatively quiet.
Sorta like a retirement community for the late 20 something's who partied too
hard and wanted a little peace and quiet away from south Mpls.
>From the likes of Mayslack's and the Polish Palace to a new Co-Op and The
Meditation Center to a Tornado of an Art Community, Ne is the kinda place I
wouldn't trade for a thousand golf course living oasis'.
It's gotten big and popular but I think it will always have that certain feel
that keeps me here.

P.S. My friend Pete does the large spin art deal, we went to art school, is it
really 14 years ago. Spin art was not a class at art school, so it must be a ne
thing.
