Today, the city planning commission met to review several items on their
agenda, one in which involved a 60,000 square foot development on the
greenway that I am proposing. This site is currently owned by the MCDA and
has been for sale for over 4 years. Due to all the compliances and
requirements for this site for the sale to be approved, it is certainly a
challenging development. The MCDA and City Council have already approved to
sale to me. Today it had to get the approval of the planning commission in
order the proceed. The city planning staff recommended approval on 4 counts
and brought it before the commission. Lisa McDonald (who is one of the
commissioners) was lobbying against it for no reason other than to be
vindictive and abusive of her position. For those of you who may not know,
there is a long history between us. It's interesting that rather than
listening to public testimony about the project, she was busy trying to
manipulate votes on the commissioners sitting next to her.
Once again and as usual, McDonald was not successful in her attempts to
squash my proposals that cross her path, as my proposal today was approved by
the planning commission. I'm thankful that some of the planning
commissioners think independently and objectively and are truly concerned
about the well being of Minneapolis. My point in writing this thread on the
forum is that though this proposal will create 75 or more jobs in the city
and meets all the requirements, McDonald chose to oppose and lobby against
it. It's too bad that elected officials in the city of Mpls are hindering
process for the satisfaction of personal vendettas. After my proposal
passed, she stormed out of the meeting with an attitude and didn't care to
return for the rest of the agenda.
Can you imagine having a vindictive person who abuses her power be your
next Mayor?
