Eva: I don't know if there is a pattern here with you or not, but I see you consistently attacking Neva Walker and Brian Herron, both elected officials that live in the Central Neighborhood. The day the vote was taken Neva grieving the loss of her sister. Neva's sister died the week before the vote, and she was actually not in session all the following week (the week the vote was taken). Her sister was 46, and until she moved out of Minneapolis about 5 years ago, very active with the Minneapolis NAACP, and a community activist in Minneapolis, particularly issues that affected the Central Neighborhood, where she grew up. She was not only a good friend of my family, but many people that grew up and lived in Minneapolis particularly the Central Neighborhood, where you have lived for quite a few years. The Memorial held at Minnehaha Park, was like a family and class reunion for me. There were also many elected officials and folks whose lives she (Neva's sister) had touched that attended the memorial. There were also big articles about her unexpected death in both the Insight News and Spokesman Newspapers. I am surprised you were unaware. It would seem that an apology is in order to Neva on this issue. She has always been very strong on GLBT rights. Neva took many homophobic attacks having a lesbian (me) as her campaign manager. She has consistently been an advocate for GLBT issues, particularly GLBT youth. You might want to make sure you find out why our public officials are absent before attacking them. I remember your jumping on the bandwagon of the Brian Herron attack when he was absent from a vote, because he was recovering from serious back surgery at the time the vote was taken. These types of attacks seem to be pretty insensitive and hurtful, when you don't have all of the facts. It would actually make me think that you may have some other issues with these particular elected officials. I am not used to you taking such stands without investigating and getting all of the pertinent facts.
