One of the things I like about Junteenth is that it celebrates the
importance of access to information. Something just as important now as it
was in Galveston. In Texas at the end of the Civil War people who were free
died thinking they were slaves--all because they did not have access to
information. This is the same issue as we call the digital divide
today--large groups of people who don't have access they need for their
lives.
