The striking nurses were marching directly behind me, we were in the
Stonewall Units and I was doing the music. It was great to see the support
the nurses were getting, I think they may have gotten the loudest cheers
along the route. A new thing this year was the parade observers running up
and giving flowers to their favorite units. The nurses got quite a few but
from my vantage point the Mayor got the most.

I would also note that the only candidate for Governor next year to march in
the parade was Judi Dutcher. We did have several candidates for other
statewide offices in the parade but they were marching with other units.
Buck Humphrey and Mark Gleason both were there.

The Stonewall DFL booth hosted several candidates for several offices
throughout the weekend. In fact there was not a time when we did not have
candidates meeting and greeting people.
