I think you should ask some Somalis what they think.  I like the
face-to-face meetings of the Mpls-Issues listserv.  We could arrange to
meet in one of the Somali coffee houses and work it out with the owners so
that they could recruit interested people to talk with us.

I know that every time I stop in for coffee at one of the many Somali
places, they always extend warm hospitality and ask me about American
culture that they don't understand.

Those guys are wired too.  If we have a few meetings, we may get some new
members to this listserv.
